Torrid Lands

The Torrid Lands are a scorching savanna of dry grasses and gently rolling hills nestled between the Ralthel Nualihn, meaning "southern fence," and the Sandstone Mountains. The region gets just enough rain to keep it from being a full-fledged desert, but the heat and dryness keep it from being a lush grassland. There are very few trees in this area, and herd animals such as gazelle and antelope roam this land. The Torrid Lands is not a hospitable place to live, but here the Jer'in thrive. They are the shapeshifting Elves whose origins are often speculated about but actually unknown. Though some Jer'in live throughout the savanna, most of the Elves live on the northern shores of Everspring Lake, an ample supply of fresh water. The Major Temple of Nistaran is situated in this region, on the northeastern shore of Everspring. Though the Jer'in were here long before the temple was built, the Elves and the priests rarely have contact with one another, and neither gets in the other's way, except in the case of funerals when the family wants the ceremonies conducted by a priest of Nistaran.
