Sentinel

The Sentinel is the large volcano south across the great plains that stretch away from Nirrion. Most days the Sentinel can be seen from Nirrion rising up like a black monument of vengeance and fear. Popular belief and priestly dogma maintain it is the home of Dweruth, that the great serpent god lives and reigns from the fires trapped in the belly of the mountain. The Sentinel has been dormant for many centuries, but beautiful Lake Basur is evidence that the volcano at one time erupted and caused a major catastrophe. Those who especially displease the Priest-King, whom many say is Judal Akar still living, are taken an sacrificed on the mountain. Twice a year, there is an elaborate ritual where the Priest-King goes to the Sentinel and offers up a great sacrifice to his god.
