Molfethen
The Molfethen, or the Citadels, refers to the northwestern mountain chain, controlled by the Arkastanai, that branches off the Perbis Pedish in the south. The Molfethen are full of precious metals, most of which is silver. The peaks are tall and black, with steep cliffs that making climbing treacherous. The southern Molfethen is somewhat forested with coniferous trees, but as one travels north, the mountains grow taller and bleaker. In winter, the Arkastanai are cut off from the rest of civilization, for the heavy snows caused by the early winter blizzards block the passes through the mountains. It is therefore quite important that the Arkastanai conclude all trading for foodstuffs before the first snowfall, and any visitors in the Arkastanai lands should be well down the mountain before the first snow falls if they do not wish to spend a very long winter with the Grey Elves. In summer, the valley through which runs the Gial Arveth is used by shepherds, Men called the Tahnim who live peacefully with the Arkastanai (i.e., though there are no formal relations, there is no hostility). These Men winter in caves with their flocks. Some are hunters. They do not farm but rather gather their food and live off their flocks. Some speculate their closest kin are the Tuhlen. Though the Tahnim have no settlements, the Arkastanai have in the Molfethen two mountaintop cities: Liratelvan and Ilaniëk.
