Karté Kiskleth
Karté Kiskleth is a large and lonely mountain that rises up out of the plains in the Ithacul lands. It is a dormant volcano, evidenced by the large lake that lies at its foot. The foothills of the Mountains of Separation begin less than a hundred miles to the southwest, so it would seem that Karté Kiskleth is part of that chain. But its peculiar nature leads the Men of Noriveä to believe that it was deliberately made to stand alone and proud. Once someone sees the impressive lightning storms that often rage round the mountain's peak, he no longer wonders why the mountain is called the "Crown of Lightning." Noriveä keeps a fort manned with soldiers at the base of Karté Kiskleth, but none dare venture onto its rocky sides. It is taboo to touch the mountain, and the Ithacul believe you will die if you dare. It is a holy mount and revered by all residents of Noriveä and the surrounding lands. Some say it is hallowed with the power of Chiel; while others claim Jehiel's avatar at the mountain's top. A much smaller minority claim that Karté Kiskleth is cursed, and therein resides an evil that should not be awakened. Whatever the truth of the mountain may be, none know for sure, for none dare approach it.
