Dylak Thana
The Dylak Thana, meaning "Golden Desert," stretches from the southern banks of Everspring Lake to the southern seas. Somewhere along the way, the desert ceases to be under the rule of the Tamari. Some say the jurisdiction of the desert Elves ends around the oasis city of Sweetwater, but there has never been any formal declaration, nor have clear boundaries for the Tamari kingdom ever been demarcated. But the Tamari rarely venture further south than Sweetwater for one reason: they abhor the slave trade that White Sands thrives on. The Dylak Thana stretches east to a relative position halfway between Daggerwood and the Bloodwood. From the northern boundaries of the desert stretching north between the two forests is uninhabited savanna. The Dylak Thana is by no means a hospitable place to travel, for the temperatures reached here are the hottest in all Chronikos. Weather conditions aside, the roaming Vegul worms that live under the sand are a great hazard to travelers. Most of the Tamari settlements that do exist deep in the desert are along the banks of the Sweetwater. The settlement furthest east, just on the edge of the desert, is the border town of Sorjoba. The borders of the Tamari kingdom are guarded not only by patrols but also by the border priests. If one were to travel along the nebulously-defined boundaries of the kingdom, one would find every 50 miles or so a small, one-man shrine. Each shrine is occupied by a priest of Alaxton. He is a friend to the friends of the Tamari, and he is a deadly foe to their foes. He has authority over any local Tamari patrol that comes into his territory, and he has been given authority to exact summary justice in the case of criminal activity.
