Chiel's Mirror
Chiel’s Mirror is a blue lake at the foot of Karté Kiskleth. Its deep blue color and glassy surface make it a perfect mirror, and the reflection of the mountain is always visible in the watery depths. The land around Chiel’s Mirror is green and peaceful, undisturbed by Nohr or marauding beasts. Many legends surround the blue waters, but the truth of them is uncertain. One of the most prevalent legends is that it is impossible to lie while looking at one’s reflection in the lake. Some hold that the water is hallowed, having the same effects as water blessed by a priest. Another tale states that the Rhylan Marah looked into the lake, and it held her reflection for a year and a day. Others say that it was the avatar of Chiel herself who looked into the water. However that may be, once a year, on Midsummer’s Day, the Prince Regent of Noriveä journeys to Chiel’s Mirror to perform his customary oblation, giving to the Bright Goddess and Yuilan her Handmaid the firstfruits of all their produce.
